SheKnows hit the streets of Manhattan to ask teens what's on their Prime Day wish lists. From dorm essentials to stylish accessories, here's a breakdown of what teens are coveting this Prime Day and how to snag those deals.
As Amazon Prime Day reaches its peak, SheKnows ventured onto the bustling streets of Manhattan to engage with teenagers and uncover their coveted wish list items for the summer season. While their individual preferences varied, a common thread emerged - a strong preference for exceptional discounts and budget-friendly prices.
The older teens interviewed revealed that apartment and dorm essentials topped their priority list, while their younger counterparts expressed a desire for makeup, trendy clothing, and high-value items like cameras.Mackenzie, an 19-year-old embarking on her first apartment adventure, shared, “I need a few things for my kitchen and living room, so I'll probably browse and see what's available. Honestly, I'm just looking for affordable options.” SheKnows delved deeper into the teenagers' shopping habits, discovering that online shopping was a constant ritual for them. Although some admitted to enjoying the in-person shopping experience, they unanimously agreed that they actively sought out the best deals, regardless of whether they were found online or in physical stores. Bianca, also 19, explained, “I try to be frugal, so I don't shop online excessively. However, when I do need something, I always check online to see if the prices are better than what's available in stores.”As conversations continued, the teens' financial prudence became increasingly apparent. It's understandable that as teenagers begin managing their own income, the importance of discounts and sales rises significantly. When asked about the significance of sales, the responses were overwhelmingly in favor of their value. Cierra, 17, stated, “Sales are really important to me because I don't have a job. My budget is limited, so finding good deals is essential.” Therefore, parents taking advantage of Prime Day sales might also consider gifting their teens with some desired items from their wish list – a thoughtful gesture that combines savings with satisfaction
