GENEVA , Ala. - An apparent tornado caused damage in the downtown area of Geneva , with reports of less serious damage elsewhere across southeast Alabama. “We’ve got damage and need people to stay away from the affected area,” Geneva County EMA director Brian Smith told WTVY News4.
He said, to his knowledge, no one was injured. Damage in Geneva occurred in the downtown area, with downed trees, power lines and structural damage. “We were lucky that it was Sunday because businesses were closed,” Smith said. “Had it been a weekday there would have been more people.” Smith said he received damage reports in the Eunola and Flat Creek areas but had not yet surveyed the area.Downed trees blocked roadways, and there was at least one report of a chicken house damaged by high winds.
