ANCHORAGE , Alaska - Anchorage resident, Torrie Ruhle, has her car packed like most moms, prepared for any mission. The latest mission, as a dog mom, is one that no parent wants to embark on. For three weeks, supplies like duct tape and posters lived in Ruhle’s car as she searched for her missing dog, Finn.
On March 20, while Ruhle was visiting her son in Seattle, her four-year-old dog Finn ran off. According to Ruhle, Finn managed to open her caretaker’s car window and climbed out of it, while they were running an errand. “I was one day into a very anticipated vacation and got the dreaded call that she had gotten away from her caretaker,” Ruhle said. “I could barely even compose myself. I just thought I was going to pass out.” Ruhle booked a flight home the next morning and hit the ground running. She turned to social media, sharing Finn’s story and hoping for answers. And it was in strangers, she found hope. Ruhle said that strangers, like Linda O’Brien, jumped right into action helping her look for Finn. Ruhle said O’Brien provided her with lost dog posters. Ruhle said she was also provided with free food and trap set-ups to help her find Finn. One of those tramps, she said, eventually worked. “I’m forever indebted to them.
