Gonzalez is a concerned mom and neighbor. She is also president of the West Hill Volunteer Neighborhood organization. She said it was a shock to her and the community to learn in their West Hill neighborhood at least 2 sex offenders live near the I Promise School.
There are several other offenders who list their home addresses within 1,000 ft near other Akron schools including St. Vincent-St. Mary High School and Towpath Trail High School “We were trusting the processes either established by state, the county, the city, and know I’m wondering who is responsible,” Gonzalez said. 19 News reached out to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office to find out if they are aware of several offenders living so close to a school and what the next steps are. We are waiting for a response.
