Retired Secret Service agent Jeff James , now the police chief at Robert Morris University in Pennsylvania , gave his perspective on the rush to protect former President Donald Trump after he was reportedly shot at a rally Saturday. Watch that full interview in the video player above.James overall praised the security team.“Everything happened pretty much as it should,” he said. “Those agents got around the president, they got him to his feet.
“You never knew if this may have been the precursor in the real attack — there may have been four more gunmen who were going to start opening fire,” he said. James described the procedures agents are trained to respond to in this sort of situation, such as looking at where the initial attack is coming from.“We always treat that attack as if that is just the precursor, and the real attack is still to come,” he said.A small distance could have meant a totally different outcome in this shooting.
