Proposed two-year agreement still requires ratification by union members and school board
JUNEAU , Alaska - The Juneau School District and the Juneau Education Association have reached a tentative contract agreement after more than a year of negotiations, the two sides announced Friday. Negotiations on a successor agreement began Feb.
12, 2025, and the proposed two-year deal would cover the current school year and the 2026-27 school year. The Juneau Education Association is the district’s largest employee group, representing about 275 teachers and certified staff. The agreement is not yet final. It still must be approved by a majority of union members and by the Juneau Board of Education before it can take effect. In statements included in the announcement, union and school board leaders praised the bargaining teams for reaching a deal and said they were optimistic about moving the agreement forward.
