A Pittsburgh couple’s visit to Ohio ’s first Buc-ee’s turned into an unforgettable moment when a surprise proposal took place during the store’s grand opening . Jason Schmit and Cherlyn Beatty drove nearly four hours from Pittsburgh to attend the grand opening of Ohio ’s first Buc-ee’s near Dayton on Monday , where Schmit surprised Beatty with a proposal.
“He was like, ‘Will you?’ And then I screamed. And then he put the ring on my finger, and we hugged,” Beatty said.Schmit admitted he was nervous about the moment. “I was pretty sure she was going to say yes, but there was always a little bit of doubt, you know?” Schmit said. The pair wanted to make it clear that the proposal was not for promotion.'Everybody thinks that we're influencers and we did this for something free. We got nothing, nor do we want anything,' Beatty said. The two met while working at a haunted house. After a post-shift hangout at Sheetz, they realized they liked each other. Now, Buc-ee’s holds a special place in their story. “We think we’re going to give out Beaver Nuggets as favors and the little pockets. Yeah. And the little mini 5-gallon bucket,” they said. The couple hopes to get married next September at the Renaissance Fair in Ohio, which is just an hour away from the Buc-ee’s location.
