Migrants from Gov. DeSantis flights clear first hurdle for special visa, and get permits to work in the U.S.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' flights of 49 migrants from San Antonio to Martha's Vineyard in September 2022 may have had an unintended consequence — legal status for the asylum-seekers. A lawyer for several of the migrants said U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has begun issuing letters saying they have bona fide claims that they were crime victims and granting them work permits.
