His parents said the 3-year-old boy is their little cowboy and will survive his injuries after he was slashed with a knife at a Nebraska Walmart during an attempted kidnapping incident that ended with the alleged attacker being shot by police.
The parents of the 3-year-old boy who was slashed at a Walmart in Omaha , Nebraska, said the child came out of surgery on Tuesday afternoon at Children 's Hospital.
His parents told Omaha sister station KETV that Cyler Hillman is their little cowboy and will survive his injuries.
Photos show the boy in a chair with his dad after getting out of surgery, as well as the stitches on his face and hand.
The child was slashed by 31-year-old Noemi Guzman in the parking lot of the Walmart location near 72nd and Pine streets in Omaha on Tuesday, officials said.
When officers arrived at the scene, Guzman was making multiple threats with the knife, which investigators said she had shoplifted from the store. Omaha police said officers gave multiple verbal commands for her to drop the knife. She refused to drop it and cut the boy.
The two officers fired their service weapons and hit Guzman, Omaha police said. A caretaker for the child and a bystander immediately removed the child from the cart and rendered aid. Video below: Bystander describes chaotic scene, helping child kidnapped at Walmart.
