Travis County Judge Andy Brown attributed the decline to the increased availability of the overdose reversal drug Naloxone.

Travis County leaders attribute the decline in overdose deaths to the availability of Narcan , an overdose-reversal drug. There were 301 accidental drug deaths in Travis County in 2025, compared to 486 in 2023.
