CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland Public Power crews worked Monday in Collinwood after a power outage left the neighborhood dark from Friday night through Sunday evening.“I have lost my Easter dinner and I lost my food that I had in my refrigerator for me and my children,” Stewart said.
Tony’s Beverage Store cleared its refrigerators and purchased new food for customers. The business also lost revenue during the outage. “Throwing away the food, that’s big inconvenience, because who’s going to reimburse us?” said Shenice Artino, co-owner of Tony’s Beverage. Artino said her co-owner slept at the store from Friday through Sunday night because electric security shutters would not close, leaving the business vulnerable.“When you call the Cleveland Public Power phone number, they were very rude. They hung up on me. They hung up on my partner,” Artino said. “But when Cleveland Public Power want their money, they’re harassing you. They’re going to send you a shutoff notice. But when we call, they want to hang up.” Epp Marsh Jr., who has lived in Collinwood for more than 55 years, said he attempted to get answers for neighbors but was unsuccessful.“If you mess up my TVs and with these power surges, you got to pay for them. And if you, my food, you got to pay,” Marsh said. “Last time I had a power, I didn’t get paid. I lost a lot of food. I didn’t get a dime.” Cleveland Public Power did not respond to requests for comment about the cause of the outage or the length of the restoration process.2 minors shot outside a McDonald’s in Cleveland: EMSStorms batter Northeast Ohio, bringing down power lines leaving thousands in the darkTrump widens threat to all of Iran’s power plants and bridges as his deadline for a deal approaches
