The Chocolate Festival bakeoff winner's cake was replicated for employees and customers.
) - Employees and customers at Eastern Shore Toyota got a sweet chocolate treat today thanks to Penelope House and the winner of this year’s Mobile Chocolate Festival bakeoff. The Chocolate Festival is Penelope House ’s biggest fundraiser of the year, helping it pay for programs that support victims of domestic violence.
The coconut and chocolate cake was a big hit, and the winner, Adrianne Kergis, was pleased with the way the chef at Eastern Shore Toyota’s restaurant replicated it. The Esfahani Foundation helped judge the competition this year, and doing the event was the foundation’s way of saying thanks for all Penelope House does in the community. “I think it’s important that there’s so much ugliness around domestic violence that sometimes we can find some bright, you know bright spots of happiness, little pieces of joy here and there we can celebrate so this is just one of those examples where it’s actually something…we’re talking about something fun in the community,” said Tonie Ann Torrans, executive director of Penelope House. “Not a homicide or not some terrible story. It’s something fun.” The cost of the programs Penelope House offers to women and mothers in recovery continues to go up, and you don’t have to wait until next year’s Chocolate Festival to help.‘We lost half of our family for nothing’: MCSO investigating quadruple homicide in Wilmer‘TikTok Trickster’ back in Baldwin County Jail after extradition from North Carolina
