TOLEDO, Ohio - Cellphone video shows a Toledo police officer pushing a teenage girl to the ground multiple times during an arrest, prompting community leaders to call for an investigation. The video starts with the officer grabbing the girl by the arm and leading her to the squad car. The person recording asks for his badge number.The girl can be heard crying as witnesses ask what is going on. The officer kneels on the girl and puts handcuffs on her. The officer grabs her arm and she gets up, then he takes her back down to the ground, saying she spit on him. 13 Action News has reached out to police for body camera footage and more information about what happened before and after the video was taken.Some local leaders called the incident disturbing and traumatizing for the teen. Toledo City Council President Vanice Williams wrote about the video on social media saying, “This is not good community policing. I will be requesting a full investigation concerning this situation. It is not representative of all the work we as a community have been doing to build a working relationship with the police.” Toledo NAACP leaders also wrote a statement saying in part, “No child should be subjected to excessive force.
