TOLEDO, Ohio - A Toledo woman is facing three counts of child endangerment after a 3-month-old baby boy was injured while in her care, according to the child’s mother.
Kamariae Marshall is charged with hurting the infant she was babysitting in March. The child’s mother said she needed someone to watch her son while she packed up her apartment after receiving notice to vacate for renovations.
“I only have three days to pack my whole house up, so she had him for the three days that I was packing my house,” the mother said. Days later, the mother said Marshall sent her a text asking why the baby had bruises and scratches on his body. Marshall took the baby to a hospital. The mother rushed to meet them there.
“When I walked in that room, they said that he wasn’t breathing. He had bruising on his chest, his ribs were fractured. He had a bitemark on his leg, he had scratches underneath both of his cheeks,” the mother said. Doctors found the baby boy had bruising and fractured ribs and suspected abuse.
They contacted authorities. According to the mother, Marshall told hospital staff she thought the baby was sick. Marshall was indicted on three counts of child endangerment in April. She turned herself into Adult Probation Monday.
She was already on probation for prior convictions of theft and assault.
