Thunder Over the Sound Air Show was originally scheduled for November 1 and 2.

BILOXI, Miss. - The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds air show in Biloxi has been canceled due to the government shutdown. Military officials said the funding lapse prevents Keesler Air Force Base from executing the contracts, safety requirements, and logistical support needed to host the event.

“Our community, vendors, sponsors and air show teams have been flexible and patient in an effort to keep the show moving forward,” said Col. Christopher Robinson, 81st Training Wing commander. “We’ve reached a point where we cannot move forward without funding in place. This was not an easy decision, but it was the responsible one.” Officials said the early decision helps the base and its partners to avoid unrecoverable costs, while also giving people enough time to change their travel and hotel plans.“We know how much this show means to the Gulf Coast community,” said Robinson. “We remain deeply committed to this community and look forward to bringing Thunder Over the Sound back in 2027, stronger than ever.”School staff member dies after being kicked by 14-year-old student, officials say ‘I didn’t know he was under my car’: Murder suspect’s 911 call after police say he dragged a man under his car 2 milesMan with semi-automatic rifle arrested after threatening to shoot up Atlanta airport, police saySpanish Fort police release names in apparent murder-suicide on Causeway
