Event honors Lisa Fields, Keziah Luker and Thomas Cordelle Jr.
Mobile County Sheriff’s Office said Lisa Fields , her 12-year-old son, Thomas Cordelle Jr. , and her 17-year-old daughter, Keziah Luker , were killed. Keziah was also eight months pregnant at the time.
All proceeds from the tournament are going to the family. Keziah’s brother said softball was her passion. Prosecutors pointed to Oliver’s criminal history, which dates back to the 1990s, and the brutal facts of the case as reasons to keep Oliver behind bars. District Attorney Keith Blackwood said his office will be seeking the death penalty while investigations continue.
“The family that I just spoke with, they’re in agreement with the death penalty, that is something important to consider but this is a case where the facts cry out for it,” Blackwood said. Oliver is facing eight counts of capital murder in the case. He will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on May 21.
