In a move to attract collectors, the global watch and jewelry retailer is improving its mobile experience.

Fondation Louis Vuitton to host retrospective on artist Gerhard RichterToday, the business announces the rollout of a redesigned app. The overhaul includes features that provide direct access to new and pre-owned timepiece sales, daily editorial and video content, collection management tools and a new “community” tab.

“At The 1916 Company, we believe that watch collecting is about much more than what’s on your wrist; it’s about how our passion for watches connects us,” said John Shmerler, CEO of “The relaunch of our app brings that belief to life, creating a new space where knowledge is shared, habits are tracked and conversations unfold in real time.”In this space, users will be able to post, share and converse with one another on topics related to luxury timepieces, including current news, recent releases and content by industry experts Jack Forster and Tim Mosso. Fans of the app can also showcase their personal collections, log their daily watch usage and trade with one another. Last month, The 1916 Company announced its partnership with Wondercare, a luxury watch insurance platform founded by American venture capitalist Kevin O’Leary.
