Akron Police detectives arrested a 14-year-old boy with a stolen firearm on Tuesday.
According to the Akron Police release, Akron Police Department’s Anti-Violence Bureau detectives were conducting surveillance on a 14-year-old boy after receiving credible information that he was hiding a firearm near East CLC.
The teen fled on foot, and police caught him after a short chase, police said. During the arrest, detectives found a stolen Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun in the teen’s waistband. This case highlights the proactive work of our Anti-Violence Bureau detectives who continue to identify and monitor individuals involved in criminal activity before situations escalate into violence. Removing firearms from the hands of juveniles is critical to keeping our community safe.
