A 14-year-old Teays Valley High School student was stabbed multiple times in an Ashville neighborhood and sought help at the school. The stabbing occurred after a dispute at a home involving a 16-year-old suspect. The victim has undergone multiple surgeries, and the suspect is in custody, facing felony assault charges.
Ashville Police are sharing more details after a Teays Valley High School student was stabbed and ran to the school for help on Wednesday. The stabbing happened in an Ashville neighborhood a little before 9 a.
m. Police said a 14-year-old was stabbed in the stomach with a pocket knife at a home on Ashton Woods Drive. Investigators said the teen was stabbed multiple times after getting into a struggle inside the house with a 16-year-old boy who lived there. Police said the altercation started when the 16-year-old suspect got mad at his brother for inviting his friends inside of their home. The suspect demanded they leave, and they refused. The brother told police the suspect went into his bedroom, grabbed a pocket knife and stabbed the 14-year-old victim several times. The police report also states the victim grabbed the knife from the suspect's hand and threw it. Police said the wounded teen and three other juveniles who witnessed the stabbing ran a short distance to Teays Valley High School to get help. School officials said the building was locked down for a short time while police and first responders assisted the teen, who collapsed minutes after arriving at the school.Detectives interviewed witnesses and executed a search warrant at the home in an attempt to locate the knife used in the stabbing, but the knife was not found. This police report states detectives took several items from the home, including bloody clothes and a backpack. Ashville Police also wrote the victim has undergone three surgeries from this incident.
