The Changan Nevo Q06 will be offered in EV and EREV variants, featuring an 800V electrical architecture and an optional dual-rear motor setup.
Positioned as a midsize new-energy SUV , the Q06 expands Changan ’s Nevo lineup with both pure EV and EREV powertrain choices. It supports single-motor rear-wheel-drive configurations as well as more performance-oriented dual-motor rear setups, reflecting a flexible drivetrain strategy across efficiency and power output variants.
The model joins the Q05 compact SUV, Q07 midsize SUV, and E07 “transformer” SUV, making it the fourth SUV under the Nevo brand, which is also marketed as Qiyuan in China. Within this growing sub-brand portfolio, the Q06 strengthens coverage of the core midsize segment.According to MIIT regulatory filings, the SUV will offer a wide range of customization options, including up to 14 wheel designs, panoramic and enclosed roof configurations, dual-tone rear spoilers, rooftop LiDAR integration, and optional rear privacy glass.Integrating 165 kW dual-motor system under Taixing drive architectureThe Q06’s EV lineup includes two rear-mounted single-motor options rated at 210 kW and 225 kW, alongside a dual-rear motor configuration producing 165 kW per motor for a more performance-oriented all-wheel-drive setup. Depending on configuration, top speed ranges from 124 mph to 143 mph. These powertrains are part of the Taixing distributed drive system, which Changan markets as enabling enhanced stability control, including tire blowout management and improved traction under demanding driving conditions, CarNewsChina reports. The EREV variant reaches a top speed of around 137 mph and combines the same dual-rear motor layout with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder range-extending engine producing 72 kW. This unit, identified as the Changan JL469Q1, is already used across several models, including the Deepal L07, S05, Nevo A06, and the A05 in plug-in hybrid form. All variants, including both EV and EREV versions, are expected to be equipped with lithium iron phosphate battery packs supplied by Gotion High-Tech, alongside units from CATL-Changan, the joint venture between CATL and Changan. The EV configurations are built on an 800V electrical architecture and support up to 6C fast-charging capability, although this high-rate charging may be restricted to higher-spec versions, similar to what has been seen on the A06 sedan.Changan explores sodium-ion battery rollout across A06 and Q06 models A closer technical alignment between the A06 and Q06 also points to the possible introduction of CATL’s Naxtra sodium-ion battery technology, which is designed to improve performance in low-temperature environments where conventional lithium-based chemistries can struggle. This development would align with Changan’s broader push to diversify its energy storage solutions across its new-energy lineup. In the case of the A06, which is positioned as the world’s first mass-produced sodium-ion electric passenger vehicle, the system uses a 45 kWh battery pack delivering an estimated driving range of over 250 miles. If extended to the Q06 platform, this chemistry could enhance cold-weather efficiency and provide a cost-competitive alternative to traditional lithium-ion configurations in select variants.Data from China EV DataTracker indicates that Changan Nevo recorded 25,184 domestic deliveries between January and February 2026. However, the brand has seen month-on-month declines in sales since September 2025, pointing to weakening momentum in its core NEV lineup.Against this backdrop, the continued expansion of the portfolio appears increasingly important. Changan’s Nevo sub-brand will likely need a broader mix of competitive new products to stabilise volumes and regain traction in a highly competitive new-energy vehicle market.
