, on Saturday, May 9, 2026. Elaydi finished first with a time of 1:46.68. The Mitty boys scored 251 points to 204 for second-place Valley Christian. The Mitty girls won it with 255 points.
Palo Alto was second with 178.5.
“I’m very proud of them both,” longtime Mitty coach Tom Miller said. “They clutched up and did what they needed to do. We have top-end kids and also a lot of kids who scored points in consolation. ” Shareef Elaydi certainly falls into that top-end category.
He broke the CCS record in the 100 breaststroke in Friday’s preliminaries with a time of 52.20. He broke his own record in Saturday’s finals, clocking 52.01.
“I wanted to go 51,” said Elaydi, which is something that should be within his reach next week at the state meet. “My first breakout was not that good. On my kick both my legs were out of the water. My dive was kind of bad.
If I clean those up anything can happen. ” Elaydi was the state champion in the 200 individual medley as a freshman and placed second in the butterfly. Last year as a sophomore he won the 100 breast and took second in the IM. Miller has coached at Mitty since 1986 and served as head coach since 1988, in addition to teaching AP World History.

He set a new CCS record in the prelims in the 50 free with a time of 19.36.
In the finals, he lowered his own record to 19.30. Kuzmenko, who is headed to Princeton for college, established a CCS record in the 100 free last year as a junior with a time of 43.42. Nathan Foucu of The King’s Academy broke it in the prelims at 42.94. Kuzmenko came back in the final to take first place in 42.77.
“I do believe that last 50 split for Yuri is the fastest all-time for a high school swimmer,” Valley Christian coach Kevin Parizi said. “Maybe we can tap into an 18-second 50 free for the first time in high school history next week. ” Foucu went into the meet as the CCS recordholder in the 200 free with the 1:35.40 he recorded at last year’s CCS meet.
He lowered it in the prelims to 1:35.39 and then again in the finals with a time of 1:34.55. Zhang came back in Saturday’s final and lowered it again to 1:57.12.
“Watching her races, there’s always small things for improvement,” Saratoga coach Christian Bonner said. “There’s a lot more potential we see in the future. ” Gunn’s Nate Yoon competes in the Boys 100 yard butterfly during the Central Coast Section boys and girls swimming championships held at Independence High School in San Jose, Calif. , on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
