Students at Cleveland State University are calling for action after a fallen street light has been posing a hazard on the sidewalk for weeks. The light pole, which rests precariously on the ground at Chester Avenue and East 24th Street, has been there since at least November, according to students. Despite the apparent danger, the only action taken seems to be the placement of caution tape around the pole. 19 News reached out to Cleveland Public Power, who responded promptly by removing the light pole by the end of the day. The university has yet to comment on whether campus staff reported the issue.

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State University students are asking for a fix after weeks of looking at a street light cluttering the sidewalk. The light rests on the sidewalk at Chester Avenue and East 24th Street.

Pictures of the pole down show it has been on the ground since at least January 21st, but students say it has been there far longer. “It’s been on its side since before the New Year, last November. I remember seeing this here, maybe in December,” said Mark Gaines. “That base right there, that looks dangerous someone could crack their head on that or something.” Students say they have not seen someone come and address the issues, the only work done appears to be some cation tape set up around it.19 News reached out to Cleveland Public Power to ask about a fix to the issue and if anyone had previously reported the problem. A spokesperson responded, saying a crew would remove the light pole by the end of the day, which they did.19 News also reached out to CSU to find out if campus staff reported the problem and is still waiting for a response.North Canton community finds missing dog Maple after month-long search, sub-zero tempsNortheast Ohioans react to proposed Ohio weed law changesDangerous fallen light pole on campus of CSUParking problems in downtown Cleveland leave multiple drivers with boots on their cars
