The Dutch supercar everyone wrote off twice is returning at Pebble Beach with more power than its original Audi V8 ever made
Spyker has revived the C8 Preliator with a twin-turbocharged V8. The new engine will give it 800 hp and a 217-mph top speed. Last year, Spyker founder Victor Muller purchased the firm's IP.
It turns out the rumors about Spyker’s revival were true. Roughly six months after it was reported that the small Dutch automaker was making a comeback, it has been unveiled that it will launch a new version of the C8 Preliator at August’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance during Monterey Car Week.
Spyker chief executive Victor Muller revealed in a clip shared on social media that the new C8 Preliator will feature a twin-turbocharged V8 engine delivering 800 hp, with no electrification. By comparison, the original C8 Preliator unveiled in 2016 had a 4.2-liter supercharged Audi V8 rated at 518 hp.

While the original C8 Preliator is now a decade old, it still looks just as good now as it did when it was brand new. Perhaps some tweaks will be made, but we’re crossing our fingers that most of the interior will be left untouched, as mechanical switches and toggles like the original are very much in demand at the moment. Spyker experienced significant financial strain after purchasing Saab from General Motors and, in 2014, declared bankruptcy.
It was revived a year later but again collapsed in 2021. Last year, Muller announced he had reached a settlement to secure all of the company’s intellectual property rights, hence why the niche automaker has been able to return with a vehicle from its past. If everything goes as planned, the modernized C8 Preliator from Spyker could be just the first of several vehicles that the Dutch brand releases.
