Residential development in North Olmsted is exploding.

Published: Oct. 06, 2025, 7:55 a.m.John Benson, special to cleveland.comNot only is The Kingston of North Olmsted townhomes project on Brookpark Road coming online, but the new Triban Investment and Drees Homes residential development Forest Commons -- located on the 11.

2-acre former Forest Elementary School property -- is weeks away from breaking ground.North Olmsted Director of Economic and Community Development Max Upton said Sommers Real Estate Group is currently at the planning commission proposing new townhomes for six acres behind the Biddulph House, north of Butternut Ridge Road. “What we have here is more investment in our housing stock,” he said. “We’re very excited that a well-respected group such as the Sommers Real Estate Group is interested in developing some really nice high-end for-sale townhome product in the city. “Their target price point is the mid-$400s and up for between 40 and 50 units, which is the appropriate density that allows for greenspace.” The entrance to the complex would be east of the Biddulph House, which Upton said is a key component of the project that requires a lot split. Based in Chardon, the family-owned real estate development and consulting firm is committed to preserving and restoring the 100-year-old house as part of the overall development. “The previous owners wanted to restore it, but I believe they lacked both the capital and the expertise to actually do the restoration, so it’s been sitting in a relative state of disrepair,” he said. The economic and community development director said with approval by the city, Sommers Real Estate Group hopes to break ground in 2026.“Nationally, we face a housing shortage of all types and of all price points,” he said. “Also, North Olmsted hasn’t seen housing starts like this in 20 or 30 years. “Consumer behaviors and consumer tastes in home buying marketers have had a seismic shift over that period of time, so this is a step in the right direction.”If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
