Michelle Lowe Solis decided to make a major change in her life four years ago this Monday. It was Jan. 6, 2021. She was working at the Pentagon as assistant deputy undersecretary for management. That was the day supporters of President Donald Trump — who believed his lie of a stolen 2020 election — stormed the U.S. Capitol to stop the certification of ballots and a peaceful transition of power from Trump to President Joe Biden , who won.

She came driven by data and armed with business degrees from Trinity and American University. Since then, she’s done what she calls work “on the periphery of a lot of different efforts here with the Democratic Party, with Mothers Against Greg Abbott. I was also a state Democratic executive committee member for Senate District 25.
