How the Sith Wars fit into the Star Wars timeline Close When we refer to the Sith Wars, we're talking about a series of conflicts that are believed to have begun roughly 5,000 years before the Skywalker Saga, culminating in 1,032 BBY with the fall of Darth Bane. The Sith began when a group of Jedi fell to the dark side, leading to a schism in the Jedi Order. This led to what was known as the Hundred-Year Darkness, a century of conflict that ended with the light side triumphant. The dark siders were exiled, finding their way to the planet Moraband (sometimes called Korriban), where they reinvented themselves as the Sith. The Sith Wars began when the Sith Lords emerged from Moraband, spreading across the galaxy, with individual Sith establishing their own empires. The scale of the conflict would gradually increase as the millennia passed, as hyperspace technology developed and the Sith became a more concentrated empire - ultimately overthrown by the Jed
