A Snow Emergency for Washington, DC will go into effect at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11 and remain in effect through at least the end of the day on Wednesday, February 12. Vehicles parked on designated snow emergency routes may be towed. Drivers are urged to move their vehicles off these routes as soon as possible. Beginning Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m., vehicles still parked along snow emergency routes will be relocated.

The heaviest snowfall is anticipated between 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening and 2:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. Temperatures are expected to hover near freezing overnight on Tuesday, raising the possibility of a Cold Weather Emergency being declared.Cold Weather Emergencies are activated when either a combination of temperature and wind chill reach 15° F or below, or a combination of temperature and wind chill at 20° F or below coupled with a weather event like snow. During a Cold Weather Emergency, the District implements additional services and support measures to safeguard residents from life-threatening illnesses and injuries associated with severe cold. Outreach efforts are underway to assist unsheltered and vulnerable residents in accessing shelters and other essential resources. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and offer assistance to homeless neighbors in need of shelter by calling the Shelter Hotline.
