DOTHAN, Ala. - An Army sergeant major at Fort Rucker was sentenced to military prison after being found guilty of secretly recording inappropriate videos of women, including underage girls, at his home in Enterprise .
Following the conclusion of his court-martial on Monday, February 9, a military judge ruled that 42-year-old Joshua Prescott will spend the next four and a half years confined at the U.S. Army Disciplinary Barracks, a military correctional facility located at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas. Prescott, who worked as an unmanned aircraft systems repairer at the Dale County Army post, also received a reduction in rank to E-1 as part of his sentencing. An investigation was launched in July 2024 after Enterprise police received a report that Prescott had recorded an underage girl at his home while she was nude and without her knowledge. Investigators with EPD, with the help of the Fort Rucker Army Criminal Investigation Division, were able to discover that Prescott utilized a hidden camera in his guest bathroom to record and save videos of female guests as they undressed and did other activities. “It is unfortunate that the victims had some of their most private moments video recorded without their consent,” Maj. Morghan Beaudoin, a prosecutor in the case, said. “It was an egregious violation of trust and privacy.”Along with these transgressions that occurred at his home in Enterprise, investigators also discovered that Prescott was committing similar actions while stationed in Colorado, utilizing his phone to secretly record a female house guest while she showered. Prosecutors were able to at least charge Prescott with one count of producing child pornography, one count of attempted production of child porn, three counts of indecent recordings and one count of attempted indecent recording as it related to the underage female reported to Enterprise police in July 2024. “The quick response and thorough investigation from Fort Rucker Army CID and Enterprise Police Department, as well as the diligent efforts of my co-counsel, Capt. Beckwith and Capt. Bloodsaw, ensured that the accused would be held accountable for his unlawful actions,” Beaudoin said. “The thorough investigative work by our Special Agents was instrumental in achieving this conviction, and while the pain inflicted on the victims can never be erased, this sentencing delivers a measure of justice and holds Prescott accountable for his actions,” said Special Agent in Charge Ryan O’Connor with the Army CID Southeast Field Office. As part of a plea agreement, Prescott ultimately pleaded guilty to two of the indecent recording counts, leading to his four and a half year prison sentence.
