The child hasn’t been seen alive since Christmas, though she was only reported missing in mid-February. On Wednesday, Enterprise Police Chief Michael Moore held a news conference to discuss the next steps in the investigation: recovery of the child’s body. Moore says more than 60 people will converge on the Coffee County Landfill starting in the first week of May.
Authorities have narrowed down the likely area where the child’s remains are believed to be, but it will take time to determine if they’re in the landfill. The process will involve excavation of a large area of land. The contents will then have to be relocated to another area where thousands of cubic years of material can be sifted through.
