The two-month long strike involving school bus drivers in the Matanuska Valley is finally over, according to the Teamsters Local 959 Union.
WASILLA, Alaska - The two-month long strike involving school bus drivers in the Matanuska Valley is finally over, according to the Teamsters Local 959 union.
Friday, the union said it had voted Thursday to ratify a contract offer negotiated between the union and Durham School Services, the contracted company that provides buses for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District. It means that regular school bus routes will resume on Tuesday, according to the Teamsters statement, citing two district in-service days on Friday and Monday before bus service returns.
The union says that the agreement addressed healthcare, medical screening, professional development, training, and overall safety for drivers and students.
