Man sentenced in Alabama to 20 years for rape, unlawful imprisonment of 2 women
AlabamaNewsCrime

A man was sentenced to 20 years in prison Friday for raping and unlawfully imprisoning two women.

District Attorney Azzie Oliver announced that Rubin Atkins pleaded guilty earlier this week to the charges. Evidence showed that Atkins lured the victims to his home on Dec. 28, 2022, and Jan. 16, 2023, and sexually assaulted them.

He then demanded money in exchange for their release and threatened further harm if they refused.

“The severity and pattern of these crimes make clear just how dangerous this serial offender is. These were calculated, predatory acts that inflicted lasting trauma and violated the most basic sense of safety and dignity. The tireless work of the prosecutors, investigators, and victims’ advocates has ensured that this dangerous individual will be off our streets for the next two decades — unable to harm others.
