Norway’s Arendal Sound Marks First Decade With Limited-Edition 1528 Tower 8 Rosewood Speakers

The speakers are limited to 25 pairs and will sell for $12,900.is celebrating its first decade by launching a limited edition of its 1528 Tower 8 speaker. This confection of Norwegian design heritage will be limited to just 25 numbered pairs and is made from piano-lacquered rosewood. Jan Ove Lassesen is Arendal Sound’s founder and CEO: “This speaker is a thank you. We’ve spent 10 years building something we believe in, and this is our way of celebrating that with the people who’ve made it possible.” As well as its classic rosewood cabinet with 12 layers of piano lacquer, the speakers have a satin-black front baffle and waveguide assembly, woofer trim rings and base bars. The speakers come with Puck Pro feet as an upgrade to the standard-edition’s Puck Plus feet. To add to the exclusivity, the naturally occurring grain of rosewood means that no two speakers will be identical. Each one will have its own granular fingerprint. Each of the Arendal Sound Limited 10th Anniversary Edition 1528 Tower 8 speakers will bear a stainless-steel that's laser-etched with the serial number.Each of the 50 speakers will be individually numbered on a chrome-plated stainless-steel plaque with laser-etched serial and signature from CEO, Jan Ove Lassesen. The speakers will also be supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Arendal Sound’s Chief Technical Officer Thomas Gunvaldsen.“Every choice in this edition reflects what we stand for precision, pride, and joy in the sound itself,” says Gunvaldsen. Beneath 1528 Tower 8’s special-edition exterior is a three-way design made up of a 28mm lithium-magnesium tweeter, 5-inch carbon-graphene midrange, plus four 8-inch aluminum bass drivers. A precision-engineered, 85mm time-aligned driver baffle is designed to deliver each note with accuracy for a coherent and dynamic sound. The curve of the speakers ensures that the sound from the different drivers travel and reach the listener's ears in phase. This design reduces the complexity of the crossover, ensuring purer sound.The speaker has a curved baffle design that ensures the drivers are all in the right alignment for the soundwaves to arrive at the listener’s ears at the same time.
