DOTHAN , Ala. - Prosecutors and defense attorneys may be settling dozens of criminal cases against a former Dothan private investigator. Police charged William Robison with 41 counts of theft alleging he bilked clients out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, though charging documents do not specify the exact amount.

The cases date to 2023. Robison Legal Services, also known as Get Evidence Now, specialized in spousal infidelity, child custody and surveillance investigations. Several of Robison’s clients claimed he collected money but failed to provide services, with additional alleged victims coming forward after the initial charges.Prosecutors and defense attorneys abruptly canceled a hearing this week as the case neared trial, suggesting a settlement may be near. “The parties are in the process of trying to resolve all cases related to ,” Dustin Fowler, his attorney, wrote in a motion seeking to delay the hearing. The filing did not reveal specific plans or how much, if anything, Robison would pay in restitution.A Houston County judge ordered that bank accounts belonging to an indicted private investigator be frozen after police say they found hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and property at Robison’s home about the time of his arrest.
