Kevin Robinson, 25, was sentenced for his role in the murder of 21-year-old Robert Rones in 2022.
Robinson was sentenced to 90 years in prison for his first-degree murder charge and four years for his third-degree misconduct involving weapons charge, Fairbanks police say.
Robinson was convicted of these charges just over a year prior on April 29, 2025. The shooting took place before 1 a.m. near 27th Avenue and Mercier Street, according to Alaska’s News Source’s. A press release from FPD claimed two cars followed Rones’ car from a gas station, boxed him in and fled the scene immediately after the shooting. He died at the scene.
During questioning, Robinson admitted to being angry at Rones for previously cooperating with police in an attempted robbery case involving both of them. Robinson initially denied involvement, but later admitted he had followed Rones, blocked him in, and shot him. Fairbanks police determined the motive in the shooting stemmed from a 2019 robbery case in which Robinson and Rones were co-defendants. Ryan Robinson, 22 , was determined by police to have given Robinson a pistol prior to the shooting.
Ryan was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 18 1/2 years in prison on Oct. 21, 2025, according to court documents.
