The New York Giants made several roster moves, activating linebacker Dyonte Johnson from injured reserve and waiving defensive tackle Casey Rogers. They also signed offensive tackle Ricky Lee to the practice squad.
The New York Giants have activated inside linebacker Dyonte Johnson from the injured reserve list, where he had been since the start of the 2024 season with an ankle injury. Johnson’s activation was expected as his 21-day window expires on Christmas Day.
With the Giants having placed Bobby Okereke on injured reserve last week and Micah McFadden currently dealing with a burner suffered in last week’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, Johnson will give the Giants a healthy and fresh set of legs at the position. To make room for Johnson, the Giants waived defensive tackle Casey Rogers. Rogers appeared in the Giants’ Week 14 game against the New Orleans Saints and their Week 15 game against the Baltimore Ravens, his lone notable play being a blocked field goal on special teams. Rogers, who was inactive last week against Atlanta, will likely be signed to the practice squad if he clears waivers. The Giants also designated defensive tackle Armon Watts (shoulder) to return. Watts has been on IR since November 27. With Rogers having been waived, there is a good chance Watts will be activated in time for this weekend’s game to fill that spot. If so, the Giants would need to clear another roster spot for him.The New York Giants have signed offensive tackle Ricky Lee to their practice squad. Lee, 6-5 and 289 pounds, played his college ball at North Carolina Central from 2018-2020 and then at North Carolina A&T from 2021-2022. He initially signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent after the 2023 draft and spent that season on the Panthers 53-man roster as one of two undrafted free agents to do so that year. He played in six games, mostly on special teams. Lee was waived this summer and signed with the Minnesota Vikings practice squad following training camp. He lasted two weeks there before moving on to the Browns practice squad. Following his release from the Browns, Lee, who is 25 years old, signed with the Arlinton Renegades in the UFL
