Police arrested an armed trespass suspect after a standoff at a fire-damaged Richland Hills home. Arson investigation ongoing.
One person is in custody after a brief standoff with Richland Hills police. A release states that it happened at a fire-damaged home in Richland Hills on Monday afternoon.
Police say reports came in about a man trespassing at a home off Dogwood Park Drive just north of 121. The home had restricted access due to a recent fire investigation. Police said they had information that the suspect was armed and was believed to have pointed a firearm out a window. Officers from the Richland Hills Police Department, with assistance from Haltom City police, quickly set up a perimeter and started to negotiate with the suspect.
The release states the suspect was taken into custody after a brief standoff and the use of a less lethal device. After paramedics examined and cleared him, he was taken to the Joint Detention Center in North Richland Hills. He is facing multiple charges, including Criminal Trespass, Deadly Conduct, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
Authorities say the suspect is also connected to an ongoing arson investigation related to a fire at the same home on May 2.
