A former Cleveland police officer was indicted by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury on multiple counts of sex crimes involving children.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - A former Cleveland police officer was indicted by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury on multiple counts of sex crimes involving children.14 counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minorAccording to court documents, the alleged offenses happened between Oct. 20, 2023 and Jan. 6, 2025.
Strunk pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas on April 30 and posted a $10,000 bond. Strunk joined the Cleveland Police Department on May 17, 2002 and was separated on Jan. 20, 2022 due to medical reasons. He was most recently employed on a limited, part-time basis as a crossing guard and resigned from that position on May 2, 2026, according to Cleveland police.
The Division is not aware of any connection between this case and his duties as a crossing guard. These indictments involve serious allegations and are inconsistent with the standards, values, and expectations of the Cleveland Division of Police. They do not reflect the conduct of the men and women who serve this community with integrity each day. Strunk was also a full-time police officer with the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Department from Dec. 20, 1994 through Dec. 17, 2001.
