These businesses will now pay 75 percent less in rent until the completion of ongoing road construction projects in the area. Both La Villita and Market Square have reported the negative impacts of the construction on their operations. The rent reduction aims to alleviate some of the financial strain they have been experiencing. The rent cut is expected to provide much-needed relief to the affected businesses, helping them stay afloat during the disruptive construction period."We are pleased with and grateful for the city's renewed efforts to support La Villita Historic Arts Village during the ongoing construction on South Alamo. The recent approval of a 75% reduction in rent between now and the end of the construction period is a significant relief during extraordinary circumstances. However, while this is an important step forward, it is just the beginning of the measures needed to ensure the artistic community of La Villita weather this construction and emerge stronger on the other side. We are committed to working closely with city officials and our community to address additional challenges and secure further support. We extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Suhk Kaur, our dedicated City Councilwoman, and Lori Houston, our assistant city manager, whose advocacy and support have been instrumental in securing this initial assistance. Their commitment to La Villita and its tenants exemplifies true leadership and dedication to our community's well-being. We remain strong and resilient, looking forward to a brighter future for La Villita and all who call it home. Together, we will continue to advocate for the necessary steps to protect and uplift our community during this critical time."
