A man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in Williamson County 's first murder conviction related to a fatal fentanyl overdose.Man charged with murder in connection to Leander fentanyl overdose, which took effect September 1, 2023.

The law allows murder charges to be filed against individuals who supply fentanyl resulting in a fatal overdose, carrying a minimum sentence of 15 years upon conviction. "By sharing this outcome, we hope it sends a clear message to dealers in our area — if you distribute fentanyl and it costs someone their life, you will be held responsible," the sheriff's office said in a statement. On Sept. 21, 2023, investigators responded to Allison's death in the 14000 block of Snelling Drive and found evidence suggesting he had been provided fentanyl-laced narcotics. After an investigation, authorities obtained a murder warrant for Dillard on February 6, 2024, and arrested him three days later. The sheriff's office said it "remains committed to holding fentanyl distributors accountable and protecting our communities from the tragic impact of this deadly drug."
