NORTH POLE , Alaska - With Christmas only days away, visitors and Interior community members alike can meet Santa Claus in person at the Santa Claus House in the City of North Pole .Children and grownups can line up to take a picture with Santa and tell him what they want for Christmas .

Standing in line to grab a recording with St. Nick, Cindy Laurel from Yuma, Arizona said she wants to remind her children at home to be good this year. “It is wonderful, beautiful. It’s the Christmas spirit and the Christmas mood and just, yeah, everything exciting,” she said.“This is, you know, a dream come true, like being able to come to the North Pole, if you will, visiting Santa, being around all the snow. It’s, it’s a really a surreal experience. I feel like a kid all over again,” he said. Victoria Zimmerman, who works as one of Santa’s Helpers, has been with Santa Claus House for just over a year. She said the best part of her job is probably seeing people’s faces when they’re at the store. “Especially working with Santa. It’s something I didn’t think that I would be doing, but getting to work with him is actually a lot of fun.” Santa said Legos are likely the most common request he’s received from children this year, and they have been very popular in previous years as well.He said girls, on the other hand, often ask him for makeup kits, stuffed animals, puzzles, art supplies, and knitting supplies. According to Operations Manager Paul Brown, the store sees hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.A display of Santa’s workshop greets guests, complete with a list of children’s names, and blueprints for toys in development.According to Santa, his reindeer are ready to go for the big night, where they must fly around the world, delivering presents to the world’s children. While his elves are in crunch time right now, Santa is confident they will be able to get everything they need ready for Christmas Eve. “We’ve got six days to go. The Elves are working 27 hours a day, eight days a week, but they’re going to get it done,” he said. “We’ve always made it because of the elves,” he added. “They really do the happy lifting. I’m kind of the frontman today and the CEO, but if there weren’t for those elves, there’d be no Christmas.”Kodiak teen formally charged as adult for beach explosion that injured 11 Sen.
