ANCHORAGE , Alaska - A dive search team is conducting underwater search operations near Juneau ’s downtown cruise ship piers as police continue investigating the disappearance of Benjamin W. Stepetin .
The Juneau Police Department said the Alaska Dive Search, Rescue and Recovery Team started searching the waterfront area from Monday, May 11, and will continue through Sunday, May 17. Stepetin was reported missing on June 26, 2025. Police said the case is being investigated as a criminal investigation. During the investigation, detectives developed information indicating Stepetin may have entered the water in the downtown area on the night he disappeared, according to police.
Members of the public may see search vessels in the area during the operation, including sonar-equipped remotely operated underwater vehicles and divers conducting underwater searches.
