Daniel Martin Brown , 63, was arrested by Leeds Police and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on Thursday, Jan. 1.According to Leeds Police Chief Paul Irwin , authorities searched Brown’s residence on New Year’s Eve.
He was booked into the St. Clair County Jail on a hold on Dec. 31 and then transferred to Jefferson County the next day. Irwin says they recovered videos and images, as well as recording devices in the home. According to Irwin, Brown has lived in multiple states so not all victims were identified. Irwin also said the videos and images were recorded over a long period of time. Irwin confirmed that Brown worked as a substitute teacher in Leeds for a short time. WBRC obtained his substitute teaching certificate which confirmed he was licensed to substitute in Leeds City Schools starting in January 2021. Irwin also says Brown was a substitute teacher in Broward County, Florida. Brown retired from the U.S. Air Force as a major and was currently a Lieutenant Colonel in Civil Air Patrol.Brown is charged with possession with intent to distribute child pornography, obscenity – production of pornography with minors, producing obscene material and sex abuse of a child less than 12.
