A woman arrested last year for wearing a large phallic costume during a protest in Fairhope, Alabama, is now facing additional charges, including disturbing the peace and giving a false name to law enforcement. The incident involved concerns about traffic safety and the disruption of public order.
Jeana Renea Gamble was originally arrested Oct. 18, 2025, after Fairhope police said she wore the costume at a busy intersection, drawing complaints and raising concerns about traffic safety . Officers said the protest happened near a major roadway where pedestrian and vehicle traffic could have been impacted.
officers approaching Gamble at the intersection as she stands in the oversized costume, with several drivers slowing down and looking on. In the video, officers explain that they have received complaints and cite concerns about traffic safety and disorderly conduct. Gamble questions why she is being detained and indicates she is exercising her right to protest. As officers continue their investigation, they ask for her name and identifying information. The footage captures a tense but largely verbal exchange before officers place her in handcuffs and escort her to a patrol vehicle while bystanders watch from the roadside. Newly filed court records show Gamble has now been formally charged with violating a municipal ordinance for disturbing the peace. According to the complaint filed in Fairhope Municipal Court, Gamble is accused of unlawfully disturbing the peace of others by offensive or boisterous conduct and by dressing as a giant erect penis at or about a major traffic intersection where the safety of pedestrians and/or traffic was at substantial risk. In a separate filing, Gamble is also charged with giving a false name to law enforcement. Court documents state that during the Oct. 18, 2025 incident, she allegedly gave officers a false name when she allegedly told them her name was “Antifa” while they were performing their official duties, with the intent to mislead.Mobile DA blasts judge presiding over murder case after Not Guilty verdict Mobile DA blasts judge presiding over murder case after not guilty verdictMobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood penned a scathing public indictiment oAccording to Mobile Police, on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at approximately 9:53 p.m., officers responded to the Subway, located at 3067 Dauphin Street, in ref"Upon arrival obviously there was a large crowd on the scene.
