As the trees start to bloom and the grass turns green, new faces are popping up all over the Alabama Safari Park. It’s baby season at a place that’s know for being wild.

“There’s lots of fun, probably lots of laughter, definitely slobber, cow slobber all over your car,” said Alabama Safari Park GM Kait Wilson. “Be ready to really get wild out here.” March is baby season at the Alabama Safari Park .

One of the newest additions, Silver the Grant's zebra. It opened back in 2018. There are two safari areas that you can drive through and a huge walk-through area with all kinds of animals. “We’ve gotten lemurs. We’ve had, you know, female kangaroos, sloths now. Our giraffes have expanded. We have a much larger herd. Also new this year, we have brown tufted capuchins.” March is baby season at the Alabama Safari Park. One of the newest additions, Silver the Grant's zebra.Sometimes the animals get up close and personal! Most parts of the park have some little ones roaming around. Spring time is special, because it’s baby season. “We have baby capuchin and baby kangaroo, little joeys in pouches. We have baby wildebeests. It’s just, babies everywhere and we love it.”March is baby season at the Alabama Safari Park. One of the newest additions, Silver the Grant's zebra.“Grant are also known as the plains zebras. They are a little more common, but for us any birth is a birth to celebrate.” Baby Silver has plenty of energy and is always close to mom, Sylvia. They are beautiful animals to watch and the stripes can be mesmerizing. “Zebra are born with their stripes. There’s that huge debacle about are they born, you know, all black and they develop their stripes, or all white and develop their stripes? They are born black and white. Every stripe pattern is completely unique, and we tell them apart based on their right shoulder.” March is baby season at the Alabama Safari Park. One of the newest additions, Silver the Grant's zebra. You can check out Silver and friends in several different ways. You can drive your own car, or ride in the huge wagon. There’s also a spot in the gift shop where you can pick out some snacks for the animals. If you want them up close, the food will help. Later this year the park plans to add a food truck so you can eat and wander around checking out the animals. And the park now has female giraffes. So it’s hoping by next fall they’ll have their first giraffe babies.
