CLEVELAND , Ohio - Officers from the Cleveland Division of Police Fourth District responded to multiple calls of a man threatening drivers with a firearm on April 29.
According to Cleveland Police, at approximately 6:03 p.m. on April 29, callers reported a man was threatening others with a weapon. One caller said the man was pointing a gun at her while she sat in her vehicle and gave police a description. Some minutes later, a second caller reported seeing the same man pointing a firearm at another driver in the area. Cleveland Police said officers detained him while they investigated.
Using real-time cameras, officers were able to confirm the reported behavior and identify the detained man as the suspect. After establishing a probable cause, officers recovered a firearm, marijuana and a cigarette suspected to contain PCP, a synthetic drug known for its powerful mind-altering effects, police said. Officers also determined that the suspect had a previous domestic violence conviction and was prohibited from possessing a firearm.
While the callers did not return to speak with officers, the suspect was taken into custody and charged with having weapons under disability and using weapons while intoxicated. The Cleveland Division of Police said it remains committed to thoroughly investigating reported crimes and holding offenders accountable to ensure the safety and security of the community.
