) - There’s just something special about the downtown area in small Southern cities. One thing they all have is that favorite spot to meet and eat. In Greenvill, it’s the “Country cooking,” said owner Patty Powell .

“You got fried pork chops, fried chicken tenders, everything is fried, grilled or baked.” Before this place served food, it was a number of different things, “a service station, a taxi stop, a hot dog stand, a fish market,” Powell explained. The restaurant is 35 years old. Patty took over 30 years ago, and she says “it’s been a journey, but, it’s been a good one.”“When I was 15, living in Highland Home, I worked at a little cafe up there,” she remembered. “It’s not there anymore. The building’s gone, but, and I always said I wanted a little bitty cafe, and I got it.” When Patty Powell was 15 years old, she knew she wanted to own a small cafe. She took over the Court Square Cafe in Greenville 30 years ago and is still going strong.“It’s give and take. You can’t like, just give up when things go bad. Things will get slow during the year, especially around Christmas, but it always picks back up after.”“I’ve got people that come in this corner, it’s their corner, every day. And whenever they come in and somebody’s got it...they look around to see where they’re gonna sit. But if those people get up, they’ll got get their corner back.” When Patty Powell was 15 years old, she knew she wanted to own a small cafe. She took over the Court Square Cafe in Greenville 30 years ago and is still going strong.“People ask me when am I going to leave? I say “when they put me in the ground.”” It’s a tiny cafe, but a big part of Greenville. Make sure to stop by and say hello and get something to eat if you’re in Butler County.Collision involving Montgomery school bus causes ‘minor injuries’
