Although Spy x Family is most well-known for its adorable slice-of-life family antics, the core of the plot is Loid Forger's top-secret and crucial mission, entitled Operation Strix. As a world-renowned spy, Loid, also known as Twilight, has embarked on a number of pivotal missions, but Operation Strix is his most important and dangerous yet.
Without Operation Strix, the Forger family would not exist, because Loid was required to construct a fake family and average life in order to carry out his mission. The operation does not just affect Loid, however, and his adoptive child, Anya, and fake wife, Yor, quickly became roped into the mission, playing absolutely crucial roles as well. Agent Twilight Must Investigate His Target, Donovan Desmond, Before He Begins a Massive War The main aim of Operation Strix is to achieve peace between two opposing nations: the East, a country known as Ostania, and the West, a country known as Westalis. Agent Twilight works on the side of Westalis, specifically for an organization named WISE, which stands for Westalian Intelligence Services' Eastern-Focused Division. The two countries are in a Cold War during the events of Spy x Family, and when a Westalian diplomat died in a car accident, the country suspected foul play from Ostania. In particular, they suspected Donovan Desmond, an influential citizen of Ostania who is very involved in politics.
