Jon Bernthal is set to reprise his role as The Punisher in a new special titled 'One Last Kill' on Disney+ and will also appear in 'Spider-Man 4'. The 'One Last Kill' special will premiere on May 12, coinciding with the Daredevil: Born Again season finale, followed by his big-screen debut as Frank Castle in Spider-Man 4 on July 31.
Jon Bernthal has plenty of notable roles in his career, be it from starring opposite Ben Affleck in The Accountant movies, or from teaming up with Brad Pitt for the gritty WWII epic, Fury. He’s also famous for starring with Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street, and he had a vital role in 2021’s King Richard, the tennis biopic that won Will Smith his first Academy Award.
However, many would argue that Bernthal’s most famous role is that of The Punisher, whom he first played in the Netflix Defender universe centered around Daredevil and other heroes like Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. Bernthal even starred in two seasons of a Punisher series that was sadly canceled, but it’s far from the end of his career as Frank Castle. Bernthal returned as The Punisher last year in Daredevil: Born Again, Season 1, the Daredevil revival series that returned stars such as Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio to play Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. Around the time that Daredevil: Born Again first arrived on Disney+, news broke that Bernthal was going to star in and write a new Punisher special, but details about the project have been kept under wraps until now. Bernthal took to his personal Instagram this morning to share the first poster of the new Punisher special, which has been officially titled One Last Kill. The special will also air on Disney+ on May 12, the same day as the Season 2 finale of Daredevil: Born Again. Plot details are still being kept private, but more information about the series will certainly be made available with the release of the first trailer, which will likely be soon. Jon Bernthal Returns As the Punisher This Summer in ‘Spider-Man 4’ Almost exactly two months after The Punisher special begins streaming on Disney+, Jon Bernthal will make his big-screen debut as Frank Castle in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which arrives in theaters everywhere on July 31. Bernthal was featured in the first trailer for the film, which was released just last week, and it seems he and Spider-Man already have a pre-existing relationship. His status in Avengers: Doomsday and other larger event films in the future is still up in the air, but Marvel seemingly has big plans for The Punisher. Check out the first official poster for The Punisher: One Last Kill, and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the Disney+ special.
