MCSO deputies working a multi-agency stolen vehicle detail spotted what they believed to be a stolen Kia in the area of Lyell Avenue and Sherman Street in Rochester just before 6:15 p.m. The suspect car fled an attempted traffic stop and struck both MCSO and Rochester police vehicles during the ensuing pursuit, police said. The pursuit ended on State Route 390 northbound near Lexington Avenue, where the vehicle came to a stop. Both occupants — a 53-year-old man and 40-year-old man — were taken into custody, and one was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, according to MCSO. Heidi Archer said she began hearing sirens as she merged onto 390 north, and saw a helicopter flying overheard. "When we finally saw the crash scene, they were still putting up some cones," she recalled. "We saw the K-9 SUV there, and tons of cops.""We were in the middle of the cars zooming, just figured that was what happened, and were glad we weren't involved," she said. "Hopefully, no one had gotten hurt."
