In a council meeting Tuesday, North Royalton Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz announced an early retirement.
Antoskiewicz attended the city’s council committees meeting, where he announced his intention to retire early in his mayor’s report. According to the city council, the mayor isn’t required to attend committee meetings but came last night.
“I am not able to devote the same energy that I always have over the last 20 years. After careful thought and input from my healthcare team, my best chance at a full recovery will require me to retire early. This is not an easy decision, but it is the right decision for me and my family,” Antoskiewicz wrote in a statement. His last day as mayor will be next Thursday.
“As I look back with pride at the progress we made during my time in leadership, I am now looking ahead to what the future holds,” Antoskiewicz said. The press release provided by the city council and Antoskiewicz didn’t mention who would take over as acting mayor.
